Our first game at the superb SAS school pitch facing a quite different International Lions compared to our last meeting. It was a dogged first-half with both teams finding their feet but the first goal was worth the wait in the second-half. Will and Bolts combined beautifully to bamboozle the International defence and Bolts rounded the combination off with a delicate lob over the ‘keeper for his tenth this season. It had been coming. Luqman and Rafa, on debut, were causing problems. However, The lead lasted all of 20 seconds as the winger cut through and stabbed home an equaliser. It didn’t deflate the Hibs and Luqman tormented his man jinking this way and that and then that way and the other before scoring at the near-post to make it 2-1 with his first for the club. Just out of the last water break, Hibs wrapped things up with Rafa topping off a very promising debut performance with a calm finish with his left. International kept coming and threw men forward. Bill saved well and his cross-bar was rattled but Hibs defended well with Matt, Panda, Jack and Joey standing firm. In the last 2 minutes, Bill clashed heads and both he and an International player had cuts. It lead to an altercation that saw a Lions player sent-off but Bill was more concerned about missing the pub after the game than his gash. Hibs had no subs left so Joey went in goal, Bill got seven stitches and Hibs took the 3 points. A really good, selfless squad performance from 1-16. Thanks to the officials for a well run game and good luck to International going forward. MoM was Luqman for the impact, threat and goal. Notable mentions for Jaison and Panda. Unfortunately, we now have a month without a league game. Bill got to the pub.
